I also recruited the assistance of my husband to score my personality traits using this same measure. According to my scores I believe that I am medium low in extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness while also self-scoring my level of agreeableness at a low. I took a good bit of time in scoring each personality trait, because I wanted to be as truthful with myself as possible. My husband of four years also scored me with what he says is complete honesty and according to his responses, I ranked high in openness, medium high in conscientiousness, medium low in extraversion, and low in both agreeableness and emotional stability. We agreed on traits such as extraversion and agreeableness, and I feel that this true based on our commonalities. I believe that is because of we share some of the same attitudes in respect to how much we shar e with people we havenââ¬â¢t know long, and the ways in which we chose to share excitement and things of that nature. We also were able to have a matching rank on the agreeableness, this is where I could tell he truly rated me on the scale with complete Rusk 2 honesty. Fec vs. Citizens United Essay - 1275 Words
September 25, 2012 Federal Election Commission v. Citizens United The First Amendment has been one of the most controversial issues surrounding the Constitutions since its ratification in 1787. The First Amendment states, ââ¬Å"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.â⬠Many people disagree on the extent of power the First Amendment actually has on the right to free speech. Some commentators argue that its bad policy. In my view, however, it is a well-settled principle of US constitutional law and justifiably so. The legislative history of the Fourteenth Amendment suggests that Congress substituted the word person for the word citizen precisely so that the provisions so affected would protect not just natural persons but also legal persons, such as corporations, from oppressive legislation.â⬠Justice Scalia addressed the right of free speech concerning both profit and non-profit corporations. ââ¬Å"The Amendment is written in terms of ââ¬Å"speech,â⬠not speakers. Its text offers no foothold for excluding any category of speakers, from single individuals to partnerships of individuals, to unincorporated associations of individuals, to incorporated associations of individualsâ⬠¦Indeed, to exclude or impede corporate speech is to muzzle the principal agents of the modern free economy. We should celebrate rather than condemn the addition of this speech to the public debate.â⬠The dissent focuses on the idea that corporations are not people, and therefore the right of free speech should not apply to them. Actions Speak Louder Than Words free essay sample
Automatic imitation ââ¬â copying observed actions without intention ââ¬â is known to occur, not only in neurological patients and those with developmental disorders, but also in healthy, typically-developing adults and children. Previous research has shown that a variety of actions are automatically imitated, and that automatic imitation promotes social affiliation and rapport. We assessed the power of automatic imitation by comparing it with the strength of the tendency to obey verbal commands. In a Stroop interference paradigm, the stimuli were compatible, incompatible and neutral compounds of hand postures and verbal commands. When imitative responses were required, the impact of irrelevant action images on responding to words was greater than the effect of irrelevant words on responding to actions. Control group performance showed that this asymmetry was not due to modality effects or differential salience of action and word stimuli. These results indicate that automatic imitation was more powerful than verbal command. 1 Actions speak louder than words Introduction Even when we do not intend to imitate others, we are inclined to copy their body movements. Some feelings cannot be definite by using simple words; they need actions to speak for them. Words are cheap, anyone can tell anything, but they will not feel itââ¬â¢s truthfulness of these emotions until they are acted upon. ââ¬Å"Nevertheless, since words may sometimes be misleading, it is our actions that end up betraying our true nature.â⬠In conclusion, we can notice that, actions are excellent way to make people believe you. By using words you can persuade people, but it wouldnââ¬â¢t be effective as actions. So, even your speech would be good as Barack Obamaââ¬â¢s, anyway you need actions to suggest your words. Furthermore; words donââ¬â¢t have the effect that actions do on people. Words are easier to forget, while actions can be forgotten that easy; actions would last forever if they had a great impression on us. It is also impossible to show people how truthful your words are without an evident action. For example; when you say ââ¬ËI missed youââ¬â¢ to a friend, and you havenââ¬â¢t even bothered yourself to pick up the phone to know how he/she was doing, then obviously these words are just lies. Hence, actions are more realistic when it comes to expressing our emotions. Actions prove who is who in real case, while words only show what someone wants to be. Also, every person could say whatever he or she wants. To put it all in a nutshell, actions are the optimum way to make people believe you. Words could be a method to convey messages, but itââ¬â¢s not as efficient as actions.
